If you want the Russians to be deterred in Ukraine, you have to make them bleed. Obama would only supply non lethal supplies. Give the Ukrainians the ability to defend themselves.

Actually most of Europe no longer gets their gas from Russia. Russia is only supplying gas to less than a handful of former Soviet bloc nations.
Also as someone who is currently in Ukraine interacting with the units that are spending time on the front lines fighting the Russian Led Separatist Forces, we should give them all the defensive weapons we can spare.
The Ukrainian people are proud of who they are and want nothing else to defend themselves from the Russian aggression.
If you would like to see an example of this, watch the documentary Freedom or Death. It does a great job of showing what happened in Maidan in Kiev, Ukraine 2013-2014.

I've long thought that the Ukraine/Crimean area has the strongest possibility of sneaking up, biting us and NATO in the ass, and turning into a ginormous conflagration overnight!
