Philippine independence declared

Thank you for the front story about The Phillipines, and their efforts to achieve independence. One of the background things leading to independence is that during WW2 the Phillipinos fought as guerrillas alongside American troops who escaped capture. They fought, died and protected the Americans in the sure believe that America would honor the promise made to grant full independence to the Phillipines.
