Col Rebecca Lorraine I grew up as a the son of a civilian contractor on an Army Base in the South Pacific. When my father's time was up out there, he continued in the same line of work for General Dynamics. He worked everywhere from Alaska to the UK. When he was in the UK he made a number of good friends that he still has contact with. While the gentleman nailed it as far as international trade, he missed the boat on the local economy. One of my father's friends who was very much in support of the Brexit Vote is himself a contractor. He works with the UK government. If he a BRITISH Citizen and owner of a BRITISH company want to do business with the BRITISH government, he has to be careful because when the contract reaches a certain size the EU has to approve the deal. That's right folks the EU has so much control that a company owned by a citizen of a nation doing business with that nation's government can still be subject to their approval. Surprisingly while immigration is a very small part of the argument, the biggest part from the information I received is that British Citizens want sovereignty over their own affairs.

Thank you, thank you for sharing. This is for those who have never heard a great speaker working without a teleprompter. He even allows an interruption to answer a question. Can you imagine President Obama attempting that? But moreover, it's a great case flying in the face of the panic mongering that we heard leveled against Brexit. The same kind of fear mongering that we hear leveled against candidates who aren't part of the Democratic or GOP establishment. However, his closing resonated with me more than anything else, when he speaks of the partnership between those who came before us, us, and those who come after. That partnership has been on my mind much these past few years as I've become politically active (not running for office but speaking out in my stories and essays). I fear that I've been letting the partnership down. That my generation will not pass on the same nation or heritage that was passed on to us. In that we are failing, failing miserably, and we must begin to turn it around now.

Col Rebecca Lorraine
I wasn't sure the link actually worked, but I admired his style, clarity and articulation of the true impact.
