The Pope is a Jesuit first, a Peronoist second an Pope third. He is deemed infallible in matters of Canon Law. His opinions on temporal matters are not infallible. Accordingly, he is entitled to his opinion. I don't agree with him on any number of issues.

Which is why the Vatican adopted the doctrine of Papal infallibility @1870. Nothing let telling the faithful that the Pope, when he opines on Spiritual Matters Exchange Cathedra, can not be questioned.
