Bulk business mail is the bread and butter of the USPS. If congress would stop requiring the post office from pre funding 50 years of retirement then they would be in the black. No other government agency is required to do this. Eliminating delivery days would further reduce demand for the service from mailers and would make the problem worse. The solution to the problem is not simplistic.

You are well informed, SGT Robert Wager. All I would add is the USPS should get back to their core business and stop competing with private industry using taxpayer funding to make them competitive.

There is a way to cut down on bulk business mail being delivered to your mailbox google direct marketing association. It should be a .org there is a way to opt out of a lot of it. Doesn't cut out all but it does cut it down a lot. The USPS does not operate with tax payer dollars. They operate solely on sales of postage, products, and services

Good strategy, if the customer stops buying and your business is suffering, raise your prices. Wish I had thought of that when I was in the private industry NOT! Congress is the bad guy here, not the USPS, they won't give the postal service the latitude to manage their business.
