My cousin's youngest son wanted to talk top me about his college plans. He had made up his mind that he wants to go into bio-medical engineering, but he decided to go to a local community college for 18 months. I asked why, and he said "the classes are cheap enough that I can pay for them with the money that I earned from a job, and he will be closer to home and work which will put more money in his pocket." He also told me that he checked, and the credits transfer to the college he eventually wants to go to... I was so proud of him. Smart kid did all that on his own. It sure wasn't his guidance counselor, as that guy is an idiot of the 1st order...

That's a helluva good idea. My daughter completed her first two years at a community college, living at home, and graduated with honors. Then transferred to UC Ivine and quit after a semester and a half because the professors were crap. He apprenticed with me and soon had a six-figure income under contract to Boeing using the skills she had learned. Always remember, it doesn't matter where you start. I only matters (to those who are concerned with such things) where you finish (the university name on the degree)
