Have to admit that IMOPrince was an excellent performer especially great guitarist in his own right. I was genuinely disappointed to learn he had been on drugs at least in his later life. Never felt he needed drugs to enhance his creative abilities.

The drug use was first related to the pain he had from his earlier stage acrobatics / moves but then morphed into performance enhancing as he was obssessed with music but wanted to stay awake longer and longer to write songs....which was stupid. I think they said over 75% of his musical catalog has never been aired or listened to by the public and remains in various states of completion. In the 1980's he wrote or collected royalties songs for Shaka Kahn (I FEEL FOR YOU), Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac (STAND BACK.....she wrote as a response to LITTLE RED CORVETTE), Micheal Jackson (Bad, turned down the video performance because he thought the video would ruin his image), Shiela E. (former drummer), etc.
