"Service Before Self" "Integrity First" "Excellence in All we Do"! I remember yelling the mantra many many many times in BMT & tech school. It seems that leadership has, if I have been reading the articles in the past 20 years since I got out correctly, gone away from staying true to these three statements, and allowed a more perverted definition of them to pervade the ranks.
Just because someone performs well on a book test, DOES NOT mean they can lead worth a crap in the field. Education is important, but it should not be the most defining characteristic when defining leaders.
