What’s sad is that this is largely preventable, had Windows users simply installed a security patch Microsoft released 2 months ago, the attack would have been reduced

LTJG Robert M. People fear change. I cannot count how man times I have logged into a remote computer and found that updates hadn't been run for months. Then the users wonder why it takes forever to install the updates. Though with what the asking price for release is, I doubt it is small users they are after. One bitcoin is currently 1752 U.S. Dollars.

Even more to the point, had users done as we have told them for years; don't open attachments or click links sent to you by people you don't know or who don't show proper digital signatures, the problem would be far less severe. Secure the human is at least as important as patch the system.
