Good article. This journalist and I are in the same boat. I feel much hatred for my religion as I am a devout catholic. Atheists and protestants always want to make fun of me and my beliefs all the time. Or they have preconceived notions that I pay money to buy my way to heaven. I also get this type of treatment when they find out I am a conservative and a republican. Although trump was talking about building a wall and banning muslims, I really don't things will come to be. I also don't think he really feels that way. I think he said a lot of things to swirl up the voters in order to win.

I would like to remind Ms Sabrina Siddiqui that we Americans tend to be fickled, in the 1920 when my Grandfather immigrated from Italy, "All" Italians were in the Mafia. In the 1950 a Catholic could never be President. Then along came John F. Kennedy. Finally in 2005 Barack Obama became the first black to hold the highest office in the land. Many of us feel he was one of the worst but that had nothing to do with the color of his skin, he was just a Terrible leader, at least in my humble opinion. So maybe your "niece" will indeed grow up to be the first Muslim President. We are a very forgiving country, for many years both the Japanese and Germans were hated for what happened in WWII even though many fraught in the US military to defeat that "evil" axes.. Unfortunately we are slow to forgive and 911 is still fresh in our minds and it seems that every day another suicide bomber kills and maims in the name of Allah. Give us time and as the saying goes this too shall pass.

How many muslims hate America, the great satan? How many muslims love the United States of America? How many muslims living in the United States love America? Look at what has transpired in Europe. I don't want NO-GO zones in America; our police should not be afraid to go into a neighborhood. The Swedish and German police have both said that every weapon found in Afghanistan is now found in their countries' NO-GO zones. RPGs and full auto AKs are all over gun-controlled Europe. We have all met a 'few' good muslims. They are vastly outnumbered. I have read the quran twice, just like many soldiers, wanting to understand why we are there. There is no loving god in the quran; there are no loving muslims in the quran. Are there loving muslims in the world? Yes. I suggest that they are not true to islam if they love or care for any infidel. Although, it is in the quran to fake a treaty with infidels or to lie to them; it is not sinful, since only faking a treaty or lying to another muslim believer is sinful.
Quran (16:106) - Establishes that there are circumstances that can "compel" a Muslim to tell a lie.
Quran (3:28) - This verse tells Muslims not to take those outside the faith as friends, unless it is to "guard themselves" against danger, meaning that there are times when a Muslim should appear friendly to non-Muslims, even though they should not feel that way..
Quran (40:28) - A man is introduced as a believer, but one who had to "hide his faith" among those who are not believers.
Quran (2:225) - "Allah will not call you to account for thoughtlessness in your oaths, but for the intention in your hearts" The context of this remark is marriage, which explains why Sharia allows muslims to lie to infidels for the greater good.
Quran (3:54) - "And they (the disbelievers) schemed, and Allah schemed (against them): and Allah is the best of schemers." The Arabic word used here for scheme (or plot) is makara, which literally means 'deceit'. If Allah is supremely deceitful toward unbelievers, then there is little basis for denying that Muslims are allowed to do the same.
There are many more, and also in the Hadith and Sira, as well as the Law, found in the Reliance of the Traveler.
The muslims, true to the quran, will always vastly outnumber those that are muslim in name only.
