Republicans Gutted the Mortgage Interest Deduction. Democrats Should Finish It Off.

While I enjoyed it like most people, at its root is government manipulation of society. In this case, favoring home buying to support the home building industry at the expense of renters. Some states like Indiana provide a state tax deduction for renters to compensate, but most don’t. Housing is housing and renting may be better for some. Why should they be penalized by the tax laws? Yet one more reason for a flat tax.
