Ok Ok OK I get it. she lied on the application and tried to pay her daughters way into college. How many colleges have and will continue to look the other way when "donations" for a new building come in and named after the donor who oh by the way has a mediocre grandchild that doesn't really meet the competitive standard but needs to get into college and magically they do following the "donation". This is no different. If we are going to hold a standard then lets hold a standard. This is an extreme case with the lying on the application and resume but that happens daily as well.

Issue is more than about lying on resume...it is about fraud and money laundering

Although rich have donated to schools before in order to get their mediocre children admitted, they have been somewhat transparent. The people in this paid money to Rick Singer as a college "consultant", not directly to the school. He registered his business as a non-profit while using it to create fake profiles. Instead of this being mere private bribery between an individuals, this involves other charges since the accused parties and Singer did not pay taxes and the transactions were for fraudulent activities

LTC Eugene Chu - Call it what you want to. Buying buildings, football stadiums, basketball arenas, giving "grants" and scholarships in a family name so little johnny can get into college or that and athlete who can't even sign their own name gets in to college to play is what it is It happens daily but we are singling out one person for it...others are just better at hiding it.

Lt Col Scott Shuttleworth - You must have not read the rest of my post. They did not directly bribe the school. The accused are in trouble for paying a con man to perform fraud and claiming that money was tax deductible.

If they had put as much effort into insuring their kids got good grades in high school they would not have had to pay someone to falsify crap to get them into college. Spoilt bratz and spoilt parents.
