Sadly Pres. Trump's disdain for service members- & the sacrifices they & their families make on behalf of the country & its people- have long been apparent. He can deny it all he wants but there are plenty of recordings & actions documenting his true feelings. Just one more piece of evidence that he's not qualified to be Commander in Chief.

You seem to be missing some info, CPT Bob Coleman. The legislation that led to vets being able to see outside physicians was crafted during *Obama's term* & signed by him in 2014. Trump renewed it but incorrectly takes credit for it. (https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/449240-trump-touts-passing-va-bill-that-passed-under-obama). Contrary to his statements, the VA accountability act has mostly resulted in low-level employees & whistleblowers getting fired- not poor execs or clinicians. (https://www.thenation.com/article/archive/at-the-va-a-law-meant-to-discipline-executives-is-being-used-to-fire-low-level-workers/) Those firings have made a chronic shortage of housekeepers worse & hampered COVID-19 prevention & treatment. (https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2020/07/va-veterans-pandemic-housekeepers/613735/). Pay raises in Obama's first two years were *higher* than any given in the Trump years, so no, pay under Trump was not overall higher than under Obama. (https://www.federalpay.org/military/raises) Then the financial crisis hit and *everybody's* pay took a hit. Even so, military members were prioritized, getting COLA raises even when other federal employees got less. And yes, during that crisis some other programs were scaled back or put on hold. The money just wasn't there. Once the economy got back on its feet the programs would have been funded again. Pres. Trump has continued the trend that ran for several years under Pres. Obama (https://www.npr.org/2018/09/12/646708799/fact-check-who-gets-credit-for-the-booming-u-s-economy) or (https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/9-charts-comparing-trump-economy-to-obama-bush-administrations-2019-9 [login to see] ).
The Hill is a top US political website, read by the White House and more lawmakers than any other site -- vital for policy, politics and election campaigns.
