Retired Lt. Gen. Russel Honore, who led Katrina relief, slams response to Puerto Rico

Well he deserves his reputation for fixing the mess in NO. It times and situations change General. Thanks for all the great work after Katrina.

LTG Honore really does have some good points and recommendations such as a Hurricane Response Task Force.

"This is not a sequential operation. I would tell the local mayors to start hiring people, get a yellow pad out and we clear the damn roads. Clear 'em the old way," he said. "You got 80 men with hand tools going to clear a road, they'll clear five miles a day."

Until you get the roads cleared and opened not much else is going to happen on a big scale.
Coming back into Florida via South Carolina and Georgia after Irma passed I opted to take a risk and not use I-95 like everyone else did. I can say that folks out there didn't waste any time waiting for the government to clear the side roads. Many large trees had fallen across roads near houses and they chainsawed them up so the roads were passable.
