Everything about this story makes me think it has nothing to do with politics. Does anyone know if there is a Mrs. Porter? Does the Major Ojeda know her?

This isn't political, unless the loser was somehow paid off by someone. Like the Majors mother said Porter is a loser with no goals or ambition and I believe he came out of the mountains because he was hungry.
