Roger B. Taney statue removed from Maryland State House ground

Taney's political affiliation is really irrelevant. Despite the swap of ideologies inferred, it also, still, really doesn't matter! The point is, it is FINALLY becoming acceptable that we, as a nation are no longer going to be celebrating what Taney and several others like him and what they stood for. It is Taney's apparent content of character (familiar aphorism?) and not his political label that brought demise to his legacy.

This whole political badmouthing is getting old; it's not even effective. It brings no positive result.

My point is the political affiliation is relevant when we are talking about Confederates, Civil War, and Slavery in the current context of speech in the media. /// And here we have the false story of the swap of ideologies. There was no swap and if so where is this great list of once Republicans that switched to be Democrats and vice versa.

Again, the statue of U.S. Supreme Court justice Roger Taney was taken down yesterday. This is the man who wrote the pro-slavery Dred Scott decision in 1857. All the years of pain and injustice that arose from that decision was unconscionable. We don’t want to forget history but we also don’t want pay tribute to those who had a hand in terrorizing a whole race of people.
