What's going on is terrifying...and how long it will last is anyone's guess

The Bureau of Economic Analysis tells a different story than is being reported by some. The data for 2020 hasn't been added to their publicly available data, but ANY job losses during the spread of the china virus are related to state mandated lockdowns NOT federal government policy. Omitting data to create a narrative is intellectually dishonest. BOTH mean employment and salaries were up before the china virus made it's debut.

I'm not cherry-picking data. Cherry-picking is trying to crop off parts of the data that don't fit a particular narrative (like the pandemic), or trying to explain away events as being out of someone's control ("it was state and local leaders"). Economic growth and employment data are the standard indicators of economic performance. The results are clear on Trump's economic record, and he can't carve out the pandemic, just like GHWB couldn't carve out the recession, and GWB couldn't carve out the 9/11 attacks, and Obama couldn't carve out the job losses and sluggish recovery that he inherited from the Great Recession. Trump also can't shift blame to state and local leaders because he had the opportunity to lead from the front, and he chose not to do so. Those things happened on their watches, and they own the fallout due to their own ability or inability to successfully navigate those leadership challenges. Trump was doing an okay job of keeping a good (but not great) economy going right until the pandemic hit. His response, or more appropriately the lack thereof, played a role in adversely impacting his economic record from that point onward. Simply put, he was dealt a crappy hand, and his subsequent moves made it even worse. He owns that. Now Biden has to navigate those challenges, and he can't blame anyone else. He owns it now.

You picked one of many .gov web sites to fit your political bent! It's cherry picking data sets. Your hatred is driving your opinion. The BEA has data also and it's fairly obvious they aren't sharing data. Both of those web sites can't be right if the different government agencies are fudging numbers for relevance, or a paycheck.

That's a debating fallacy. "When you can't defend the data, undermine the source of the data."

The BLS and BEA are legitimate sources of data for many researchers, journalists, investigative reporters, academics, political advisors, industry leaders, economists, etc. Apparently they aren't legitimate sources for some people who post on social media sites though.

I don't have to defend the data, I'm using a government provided source. If you don't like the data, take it up with the BEA.
