Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on July 16, 1918 in Yekaterinburg, Russia, Czar Nicholas II and his family were executed by the brutal Bolsheviks, bringing an end to the three-century-old Romanov dynasty. The assassinations took place in a fortified mansion in the town of Ekaterinburg, in the Ural Mountains.
The Bolshevik Revolution the previous November had taken Russia out of the Entente allies. That action releases the Austro-Hungarian and German forces to fight on the western and southern fronts. in the Great War.
