(03 22/22) Governor Ron DeSantis signed a proclamation acknowledging Sarasota’s Emma Weyant as the rightful winner of the NCAA Division 1 Women's 500m freestyle.

Ms. Weyant had finished second place behind biological male Lia Thomas. In making the proclamation, DeSantis expressed that "by allowing men to compete in women's sports, the NCAA is destroying opportunities for women, making a mockery of its championships, and perpetuating a fraud."
