Strategic bombers as a concept is almost dead, at least as far as us or the Russians thinking we're going to penetrate the other's airspace and drop gravity-propelled bombs on a target. The Russian Tu-95 and Tu-160 are the rough equivalents of our B-52 and our B-1, and so their only uses are going to be to launch missiles from a distance. That, or drop gravity bombs on 3rd world targets.

*That is a cool video included in that article!

SSgt Christopher Brose I agree. We converted the B-1B & Buff to be Cruise Missile capable, and now it appears the Russians have made at least one of their equivalents capable of the same.

They've started work on 5th Gen Fighters/"Stealth Bombers" ever since 2007?

Austin Hocutt they are still in development w/ their Sukhoi PAK FA, but have yet to get it fully functional - much like the F-35. China is currently producing their version, which is a damn-near carbon copy of the F-35.

Indeed, but then again the only delays I heard about the PAKFA, or their Tupolev PAK is they stopped production of the Tupolev and started focusing their industry on TU-160's. Then the PAKFA currently is rumored to have 10 working prototypes. And if they can keep the cost down below a 1/100 of the price of a F-35 but keep the same quality I'd say it's a great thing.

But atleast they are doing production of such aircraft.
