I was an army Recruiter for 3 years from 1979 to 1982. I was in the Infantry and was "selected". When I returned to the Infantry I was newly married, but was given duty of choice for surviving Recruiting Duty. I chose Berlin. I arrived in Berlin in Jul of 1982, wife and stepchildren in tow. I signed into my company as a new SSG, and was immediately told to get my TA-50 as we were going to the field. I told them I just got there and I had to settle my family into housing. In typical Infantry fashion, they could give a rats ass. I left my wife with (fortunately) her cousin who was stationed in Berlin for a 45 day field exercise. My wife was scared to death, we got housing and everyday at the end of the driveway was a Soviet Vehicle. In Berlin they were legally there, so they prowled. She was petrified that Russians were just hanging around the neighborhood

I agree, it would be more of a shock to find out they made zero attempts to influence another major world powers elections to benefit themselves. Good history lesson here!

Actually, if we do NOT find attempts...it means that our detection and investigative methods are sub-par....
