We did manage to defeat the Japanese Zero in WWII and was far superior to any fighter we had in the beginning. It all depends on who’s driving

Every plane has its strengths and its compromises. Even the P-47 succeeded against the Zero because it had pilots who understood the difference and how to use them

F-22s would eat this thing for lunch.
F-35s not so much, but I sincerely doubt we'd hazard F-35s without some sort of support. The notion of using F-35s as detection platforms so that F-15s loaded with armament can tear up an enemy aircraft formation at a safe range is one the Russians simply can't replicate.

I've read (and fighter pilots have told me) that the one who sees their enemy first wins. Well, that appears to be what stealth is all about...
