Russia shows off Arctic dominance with military exercises

Yep that was interesting read. Hell, the South Korean Soldiers are more physically and mentally prepared to fight in harsh cold environments even if their equipment isn't. We still have a ways to go considering our priorities are in other places that are warmer.

It seems Russia has the early lead in claiming and holding the Arctic. With their fleet of over 20 icebreakers (and more being built) compared to our 2, and their early foothold in the Arctic, Russia so far doesn't really have any competition. Yes, we can drop paratroopers into the AO, but holding what they might be able to gain will be a different question.
