They use little green men for that. The roads and airport were littered with Soviet era gear in Somalia, so time will tell. Lots of natural/strategic resources on the table up for grabs. Many had a stab at it before, from all over Europe. We did a MEU weapons sweep and passed through the former Club Med toward end of march. We heard it in brief and I thought it was just an assigned name, until we saw what was left, pool and all. Overgrown and abandoned.

China has its base in Djibouti and now, Russia is building a base in Sudan. Doesn't it appear that the Coalition of Red Forces are moving to control sea shipping lanes to and from the Mediterranean Sea? This is of Intelligence interest, I believe, since China wants to promote it's MSR initiative.
