I fail to see the issue. They aren't out there on a day cruise, they LIVE on the ship. Of course they're going to have some time off duty and where are they supposed to spend it? And they are in the middle of the ocean, I don't think they expected us to be treating them like a long-distance peep show. If you do see something you have seen before... yay for you.
