Tough one. China and Russia landing troops to our south, open borders and the Democrat enemy within attacking the President and his administration.

Venezuela owes a boatload of money to the Russians; they are securing their investment.
Question is, how serious are we about digging into that problem? Venezuela is a hot mess, and isn't getting squared away any time soon. But their oil keeps Cuba afloat, and their rulers are enriching themselves while presiding over chaos and impoverishment.
For my money, this is a soft power play for us, not a military one. Revolution is coming there, let's watch and engage when it will make a difference. I think the situation as is will only mire us in another quagmire.

These are the types of missions that conventional forces are ill suited to perform. On the other hand Army Special Forces, a Special Operations Group, and a Political Action Group are just what the doctor ordered.
LOOK! Maduro and his entire bodyguard were killed by his own troops.

Ignoring the problem of hostile foreign powers operating in close proximity to the US will in time, create bigger problems. Better a limited action now versus the RR or the PRC threatening the US Mainland in just a few years. It is possible to be too cautious. "L'audace, l'audace, toujours l'audace."
