Thanks for reminding us that Sacagawea, who was the Shoshone Indian interpreter and guide to the Lewis and Clark expedition, gave birth to her first child, Jean Baptiste Charbonneau in 1805 TSgt Joe C.
I was curious about the Pompey nickname since Pompey was a Roman warrior leaders from ancient times.
Jean Baptiste Charbonneau was "Nicknamed “Pomp” or “Pompey” by Clark, who developed a strong attachment to the boy, Jean Baptiste accompanied his mother on every step of her epic journey to the Pacific and back."
