A suspected burglar fleeing from a helicopter in someone else's backyard in the middle of the night. Um sorry, don't steal crap, don't run from cops when you get caught, and when they point their weapons at you don't make sudden movements...
Do either one of those three things and you probably won't get shot by a cop, I know it's really complex....

Capt Dwayne Conyers - Does it matter. Reasonable suspicion. What was he doing in someone else's backyard. Why did they call the cops, and why did he run. Cops do not need to be shot first before they defend themselves. Sucks this guy died yes, but he was a complete moron and he easily could have prevented his own death. He is not someone worthy of martyr status.
