Some of what the Pope spoke about reminds me of a "peasant" mind set i.e. that my neighbor is wealthy because he stole from me. His belief that Western Nations are wealthy because they somehow stole from the third world nations is just...medieval. The West is wealthy because we embrace the free market, we allow individuals to create wealth that did not exist before them. We do it by creating things (like cars, TVs, and Iphones) that other individuals are willing to work hard to get. What's interesting is that President Obama had a similar mindset.

I highly recommend reading a "IQ and the wealth of nations". I believe it was published in the 1990s.

No habla and no translate - no loss, because I don't align with the faith or Pope. I'd think his plate would be full enough keeping his Cardinals, Bishops and Priests from molesting kids, but he's the Pope so it's his call. Religion and politics belong together about as much as fire and gasoline IMO though.

CPT Jack Durish I cannot name a single faith beyond Catholicism in which the leader of the faith has a voice beyond said faith. That is dangerous. One of the great things about our Constitution (to your question not one I would give up) is the freedom to believe and by extension not believe what we so choose. I despise the Catholic Church. Aside from being hugely wealthy for an entity that supposedly relies on the charity of its people, it has actively hid child predators from justice. It may not be as prevalent now as in the past, but I don't forgive easily. So before his high an mightiness starts talking about his concerns for the global population maybe make sure his house is in order first. Then once he has that, maybe the Vatican can take in some of the refugees. I know they don't have a lot of space, so maybe sell off some of that land they own, and use the proceeds to establish decent housing for the refugees. Otherwise, he is a religious leader for Catholics, and a political leader in Vatican City, neither of which I give two shits about. If he wants to fix the problems of the poor, maybe start by not telling people to give tithes to the church unless they have excess to tithe the church. UGGH!
