Interesting SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. I wonder how increased sea duty will impact recruiting and retention. Those who pursue carriers in aviation, submarine, or fleet ships may well relish more time at sea over their careers because I expect that helps in promotion and follow-on assignments.
[Edit] I was saddened to learn that 7 out of the 13 effected are Seabee Ratings which have been over deployed and over tasked for 15 years already. "They deploy for 7-8 then come back, train up and certify for next deployment 12 months. so it's 7-8 out then 12 months in, and out of that 12 months will be intensive training and time away from home. This is not good on families." Thanks CPO (Join to see) for educating me.
This reminds me of the low density and high demand Army, Navy and USAF units which have been over-deployed and stretched thin for at least 15 years,

Well Sir, 7 out of the 13 effected are Seabee Ratings, and this community like NSW has been over deployed and over tasked for 15 years. This is not a good thing, as Battalion life is not bad, but always deploying to places like AFG and Iraq and currently all over Africa doing CA/HA missions. They deploy for 7-8 then come back, train up and certify for next deployment 12 months. so it's 7-8 out then 12 months in, and out of that 12 months will be intensive training and time away from home. This is not good on families.

CPO (Join to see) - thanks for fleshing out the details. As a former Army combat engineer I have a lot of respect for the Seabees.
I was hoping that Navy leadership would be wise and increase the dwell time for sailors to spend with their families before deploying again. I will modify my post accordingly.

Thank you sir, also some of the other rates, are Intel and fall under LD/HD troops.

Sea duty sucks. No way around it. You get burned out from the asshole-itis that affects every ship. The only way out of it is breaks.

1. Go to a submarine rotation model. Have two crews for every ship. This way - operationally - the ship is at sea for exactly how long it needs to be at sea, but the crews get a rest.

2. Offer a bonus for those volunteering to extend their sea duty. Retard leaders. Yeah...go ahead...extend everyone against their will. Then wildly bitch and moan when they won't reenlist. Sorry leaders. Pull your head out of your ass and compensate.

3. Get rid of the touchy-feely kinder/gentler 1000 points of light bullshit. I've been at sea continuously for 100 days and you want me to pull in to a port and build an orphanage? F**k you - I'm going downtown to get drunk/laid. Leave me the f**k alone. And yes...that is a tattoo I just got...

4. Make every swinging dick officer and politician in leadership positions ride a ship for a deployment prior to making/passing any of their stupid ass laws. I'd especially like to get the flag grade clowns responsible for uniforms to have to work onboard a ship in their stupid-ass creation. "Hey admiral - looking a little filthy in that white uniform. Better square yourself away dirtbag."

Some body is a fan of Gary Johnson and is using his products. A little less than 20% of the Navy is made up of women. Cause and effect. Who will take up the slack for those that take advantage of the nearly three months (84) for each pregnancy? Three months was a standard deployment of a Fleet Ballistic Submarine when I was active and you rotated with an off crew every 90 days. And they are talking about the same process for the new white elephants. I can see even more problems with this. I had shore duty on two occasions, 30 months each. The rest of my time was sea duty for 21 years. And there was no women at that time on ships/submarines.
