Well, maybe all the money in the world, but not on deck.

Think that unless you're captain, you're on deck in this business.

Agree. Have become a fan of TV show Deadliest Catch and can't imagine doing that. Vessels on the TV show range from 110' to 151' and it looks like horrible working conditions. F/V Destination was only 95' so kind of thinking that in this business size matters.

Size matters, but only to a point. I was in the Bering sea on a VLCC (Very large crude carrier) that, loaded, was nearly 300k tons (a carrier is 100k tons, for reference), and we were being tossed like a twig during a 100-year storm. She'd roll so hard that there'd be what seemed like a 10-second hang (but in reality was probably only 1 second or so) and I found myself on several occasions chanting under my breath, 'come back baby, come back'. I wasn't alone in that. Pretty awe-inspiring, and a very clear lesson that mother nature rules them all.

Another reason I'm glad I became an Air Force rather than a Naval aviator. Navy was first pick, but AF offered better deal.
