I met only one bitter draftee, one who had served a short time at end of WW II and was drafted again for Korea.

SSG Donald H "Don" Bates - There were only two during basic training. One was a Native American, and he took on the drill Sargent and lost.

Some draftees were great, others not quite so much.

PO3 Bob McCord Guess the academies should screen for more than grades and sponsors. Hard do comprehend anyone terrified of guns even considering an academy. I was an alternate for the Coast Guard Academy, actually got notified that slot had opened for me, but I was already down in Virginia in midst of football practice when that happened, so passed.

PO3 Bob McCord Ha ha, that's funny. Wish there were more with military experience (even theirs) in politics, but given our percentage of total population, guess that's wishful thinking.
