I've had many good opportunities since my Nam service to recover from PTSD, and I sometimes tell people the war was the worst thing in my life ... and also later the best thing. I just didn't recover, I became better than I would have, realizing the beautiful possibilities in living and developing my capacity for healing and sharing myself.
You or someone you know may have deep pain, or be avoiding that awareness, but this could be a reminder you could
a) appreciate what or who is to be appreciated or loved
b) focus on what you could do today to lighten your feelings or reach out to someone
c) imagine how you would like the rest of your life to become, and take a step forward with courage and kindness you yourself.
Thank you for your sacrifices and service
