If it is such a problem to allow "homemade" and 3rd party boxes, why can I do it at No Extra Charge here in Thailand? Answer: Competition. In most of their service area, Comcast has Zero competition. Sounds like they are worried about their "Equipment Rental Fee Scam".

I'll go with intermittent signal loss from satellite before I ever fork another dime over to Comhacks. They are, to put it mildly and bar none, the worst communication company out there in terms of value, technical service, customer service, and policies.

SSgt Ryan Sylvester Agreed. When I was living in Alexandria, VA, I made a point of getting Directtv. I would not let Comcast anywhere near my house. Now that I have lived in Thailand, sometimes find the American system funny. No competition in an area and you pay for basic TV. Basic TV is free in Thailand, even Satellite. We get about 100 Channels (20 of them worth anything) for free. If we want to pay, in my town alone there are 4 different providers to choose from.
