Seymour Papert, theorist behind One Laptop Per Child, dies at 88

This man was a pioneer in bringing computers to the masses. He pioneered a coding language, called Logo, to teach children how to write code, and was the inspiration behind the One Laptop per Child program. Rest in Peace and thank you for all that you have done to bring technology to a wider audience. SGT (Join to see) PO1 John Miller

I think this is only the second time I've heard of the Logo language. Born in South Africa, all over Europe, and then end up at MIT? That's a lot of knowledge and wisdom I'll now learn from via their website after someone leaves. It sucks how that goes sometimes - you don't know of someone's greatness until they're gone.

PO1 John Miller Agreed. All controversy about the OLPC, it was and still is a good idea. I had the opportunity to use one a couple of years ago, and it was a very well-made functional piece of gear.
