I am a Dallas Officer for my civilian job, a couple of points for this story. Since our headquarters was shot up in 2015 by a man with an automatic rifle and an armored van our station have had to take security into their own hands as the city refuses to take action. We have officers in marked patrol cars standing guard and roving just to keep an eye out. This is common knowledge that the department has stated to the media. Those officers were targeted as well in this incident, their squad car took 1 round as well as the sub station building itself. There were two shooters who each fired in the drive by. The police associations continue to call on city leadership to increase defensive measures at the stations (fenced parking lot and bullet proof glass are the main points).

Police stations need to have their security reviewed and upgraded, to avoid any incidents.
