No. Should we pay seat-belt manufactures when they save our lives since when they don't they get sued? What about airbag or helmet manufacturers? There are so many things that can save your life that are purchased prior to them being used for that purpose. The items are not leased from the manufacturing companies but bought outright and that is the end of the transaction with those companies unless it can be proven that the item was defective because of something that manufacturer did. Firearm companies should not be able to be sued if their product was used in a criminal manner that was not intended by the manufacturer nor should the person who used the weapon to defend his/ herself be sued because of using the weapon for protection.
