As the article states, and many others have already stated, if Steyr has had the patent since 2001 and Sig introduced the 250 in 2007 and the 320 in 2014, why did they wait til now to file a suit? They're just being crybabies because they didn't get awarded the contract, just like Glock and everyone else who has or may file a suit.
Sig is a superior firearm.

SSG Tom Pike - The Sig 250 was awful. My police department bought them and we had them for about 2 years. It was like shooting a broom handle Mouser. I hated them.

SGT William Howell - There is usually a reason why guns don't sell well. I never fired a Sig 250, but I knew they didn't last long. Sig normally makes an excellent weapon.

SSG Tom Pike - I agree. Sig is a quality gun maker. I carried the Sig M-11 for most of my time in the Army. My only complaint was that it is made for normal to small size hands. I have freakishly large ogre sized hands. With the slide release in the back of the frame (as it should be) my thumb always rested on it and I could never get the slide to lock back on the last round. It was reliable and I loved the fact I did not have to carry the M-9 boat anchor. Now that gun was a turd from the first day it came out.

I have a 92FS (civilian version of the M9), which admittedly I don't shoot as much as my other handguns, and has never been in a dusty sandbox environment, but it has never failed me. Even with various attempts at handloads that choked Glocks and Sig's.
Back during the ammo panic I was playing around with cast lead 158 gr round nose .38 spec bullets in 9mm cases because I couldn't find any other projectiles and using WST shotgun powder because everything else was out of stock. Somehow got some .380 cases mixed in with the 9MM's. The 92FS cycled and fires 158 gr LRN .380 loads. And I still have all my fingers.

When the bid involves bucks, things become "dog eat dog". In my Fed LE carrier, we went from a highly reputable 357 wheel gun to a 40 cal Italian brick with a 2 mile long trigger pull (nasty thing, my scores went down). A German/Austrian outfit sued about the bidding thing like Steyr. Rather than court, my outfit gave the whole contract to the German guys. My scores went back up and I bought my own after retirement. Great Hawg Leg! I'm with CPL and SGT (Verify To See) on this. Sour grapes crybabies. Lets see what DOD, Army do.
Ooha!
