Go ahead and replace the Beretta. I just saw the new Beretta APX modular pistol today and while better than the M-9, it ain't no Sig P320. Steyr's suit is BS, only brought about by the MHS contract winning 320.

Why? The Sig is a superior pistol and the only one that met the requirements of the MHS competition. The new Beretta APX appears to be competitive, but that's not what Beretta submitted. Glock has the LEO market locked up by giving the pistols away, but isn't modular and has notoriously lousy triggers. Should DOD buy Glocks and then pay for a trigger upgrade to each pistol? Sig had to forsight to design & submit a pistol that specifically met ALL the MHS requirements. If you mean all the $$$ wasted by the Army procurement zoo, I'm 100% in agreement with you on that.

MSgt George Cater - The lawsuit has nothing to do with any of the things you mentioned. The lawsuit is over Sig's alleged copying of Steyr's patented design for a modular chassis system. Steyr has had plenty of time to file a suit against Sig. They used exactly the same system in their P250 over 10 years ago. Why didn't Steyr sue back then?

I knew and agree with that. Said so in another post. Old news made new cause Steyr sees $$$ in the new Army contract. All business BS. But after the dust settles, I still like the 320 best.

I agree it is all about the money. I love my P320. My husband and I bought Berettas 92 FS's when they came out and we were in the Army in Germany. They were nice at the time. I also have a .380. Sweet. However, I really enjoy the Sig P320 9mm very much. It is so sweet and it fits my small hands. My husband likes the way it fits his big hands, too. That rarely happens. It fires so nicely, too. I carried a 1911 from time to time and loved them. I generally fired better than most of the officers. Being a female enlisted Soldier I took a lot of pride in that. I was not and MP, either.

Money grab, straight up.
My guess is that they are trying to get a significant settlement from Sig, or better yet a piece of the Army contract.
Having said that, I don't know how you patent a common material (plastic frame, steel slide guides) just because you happen to use it first in that particular manner. Then again, the patent was granted, so they have a case.
