Unfortunately, I'd have to agree with the sentiment.

For a military-specific social network, it's actually not at all negative.

However, when it comes to professional networking for job opportunities, it's lacking. There's just a void, or missing link, that could make RP the standard for military career seekers.

Honestly, I consider RP to be more like a LinkedIn group. Plenty of users contribute to various articles of information, some educational, some opportunistic, but most is political, and it's hard to classify a social network as a 'business' platform when it focuses a lot on politics (both military and gov't).

I think the ability to "ignore" certain tags would help with that Politics issue. You're definitely not the first to mention it.

There is going to be increased trend of professional opportunities available on here. This site is still just progressing past it's infancy and beginning to define itself as THE military social network. There is a current outreach program to get more employers engaged, and you will see more and more as the site and our team continue to develop this process.

I have been making this point for a number of months. While I enjoy RP - most of the time - it is not going to be perceived as a 'go to' professionally oriented site until there is some way of separating the social media aspects from the professional development side.

If you seem to think that political and religious discussions belong in a professional forum I will remind you of the old adage that "religion and politics are never discussed in the mess". I work in the finance industry (technology side of things) and religion and politics are subjects best avoided in most settings.
