It's funny but I grew up in the 40's and 50's watching cowboy movies in which there was no greater insult than to call someone a "dirty bushwacker". Then I joined the Army and spent months learning the art of "bushwacking" (they called it ambush). If you think about it, sniping is an elegant form of bushwacking and the sniper is a true craftsman of the trade.

CPT Jack Durish I have known some exceptional snipers in my time. I cannot imagine some of the shots that are being taken today. Absolutely amazing.

Sir, I seem to remember a female Air Force Security Police sniper a few years back! She was nineteen years old at the time and she was on a post overlooking a road, and she sees a Taliban bomb maker planting a IED next to the road. She was about 175 yrds from her target when she took him out with one shot, and the last thing that came out of his mouth was his anus because she shot him in the rear end. He was bent over implanting his IED when he died!
