With all these shenanigans going on with social media lately I thought this would be a good topic to cover. I have noticed that most of these social platforms have some kind of tag your location setting (geotagging).<div><br></div><div>Social media has become part of most peoples lives. It has helped keep families and organizations connected, even during deployments. I actually gave my element a safety briefing on socilal media today, and I used some of the recent examples in the media to hammer home the point. Some of our younger service memebers just don't think before they take the pics, and then post them!
We had an incident here where some of my guys were drinking in base housing and decided to go into a construction area to climb scaffolding to urinate off of the top. no one would have known if one of the spouses hadn't taken a photo and posted it on FB.
We even see it here on RallyPoint. Personnel posting about sensitive work issues in their units that should likely not be public knowledge. If your CSM has an EO complaint against them, and you post that here - then ANYONE can figure out who exactly the CSM in your unit is.
