I actually gave my element a safety briefing on socilal media today, and I used some of the recent examples in the media to hammer home the point.  Some of our younger service memebers just don't think before they take the pics, and then post them!

We had an incident here where some of my guys were drinking in base housing and decided to go into a construction area to climb scaffolding to urinate off of the top.  no one would have known if one of the spouses hadn't taken a photo and posted it on FB.

We even see it here on RallyPoint.  Personnel posting about sensitive work issues in their units that should likely not be public knowledge.  If your CSM has an EO complaint against them, and you post that here - then ANYONE can figure out who exactly the CSM in your unit is.

TStg, did you use any written materials for your briefing?  If so can you please send me a copy?

It was just verbal briefing at a flight stand-up.  I like to go sans-slides whenever possible!

MSgt Koss,

I agree 100% which blows my mind because most of this stuff is common sense things you just don't say, do, or take pictures of.

Unfortunately, common sense is no longer a basic issue item that all service members are issued prior to graduating from high school/

I am glad I was a Joe before Facebook.  Too many Soldiers post without thinking who can see it.  Many things that seem cool at the time to a small group (but are over the line) bring discredit to the service when viewed by an outsider.

Sir,

Agreed, a lot of the time they post it because they don't think or care that the dumb stuff they are posting will get them in trouble. As a whole I don't think awareness to this matter is being brought fourth at all.
