I don't think it's, "What Caliber", it's is always the shooter, not the fire arm, or the caliber. If it's to far out, then get closer, a good sniper knows his firearm well, and how it performs in the field, and will adapt to the situation. Same to the individual using his, or her firearm for the mission.

The caliber is important. You need power to reach a great distance and the force to stop or disable your target. You can have a good shooter but it does not mean anything if you can put them down.
