For those of you that do not know that SOF personnel transitioning out of the military are struggling then let me educate you.
The majority of SOF personnel do little to nothing to prepare themselves to transition out of the military. Many SOF are constantly deployed and most only have about 6 months to do everything they need to do. Six months leaves them very little time ensure they know everything they need to know. Most leave the military not knowing what they should be doing because they just fall into the mandatory Transition Assistance Program (TAP) 90 days from departure. Our people historically exit the aircraft poorly and most struggle to recover in a timely manner and that is not how it should be.
The Global SOF Foundation (GSF) has partnered with The Honor Foundation and AAFMAA to form SOF for Life. SOF for Life is designed to help SOF transition. We encourage people to get their financials in order as far out as possible and start a transition program 18 months from separation. SOF for Life is working to fix this.
In the near future we will be releasing a survey to retired SOF asking them to fill out the surveys so we can better help us with SOF for Life. The data is required to help us designed the right programs, market to the right businesses and to make the program actually work. We look forward to the support from our retired SOF.
The GSF host a Taleo resume database for GSF Members. If you are not a GSF Members you can join online at https://globalsoffoundation.org/individual-membership. If you don’t join then I hope it all works out for you. If you are a GSF Members I would encourage you to post your resume in the SOF for Life database at https://www.sofforlife.org. We are in the process of rolling out a means to email job postings to everyone in the SOF for Life resume database. If you do not have a resume in the system with a good email address then you will not receive these job postings.
On the last day of the Global SOF Symposium, 21 - 23 February 2017 The Honor Foundation is hosting a “Transition Workshop” at Innisbrook Resort in Palm Harbor. The intent is to give senior SOF a taste of what The Honor Foundation transition course provides. This is really important because The Honor Foundation is working hard to finalize their Virtual Campus that will support SOF all over the world.
I would encourage you to join the GSF now! Post your resume in SOF for Life now!

We should've had something like this years ago. So many suicides could have been prevented. So many marriages could have been saved.

Thanks for sharing COL Mikel J. Burroughs I know many SOF operators from my eldest son who was in 3/75 Ranger Battalion through GEN Joe Votel my old friend and classmate who commanded SOCOM before he moved to CENTCOM.
