Soldier killed in collision with Army truck on Fort Bragg

A member of the 82nd Airborne died Wednesday after he rear-ended an Army truck on Fort Bragg, N.C.
Spc. Javier Enrique Aguilar, 25, was a paratrooper with Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.
The two-vehicle accident occurred on Longstreet Road, just west of Gruber Road. The Light Medium Tactical Vehicle that Aguilar collided with was largely undamaged and no one on board was injured.
The circumstances of the accident remain under investigation, an Army spokesman said, though charges are not expected.
Aguilar "was a tremendous Paratrooper for Bravo company," said Lt. Col. Justin Reese, commander of the 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, in a news release.
“His passion for aspiring to become a Non-Commissioned Officer and continuing to contribute toward training Soldiers was second only to his love of family,” Reese continued. “Spc. Aguilar and his family will always be members of the 1 Fury family."
Aguilar joined the Army in 2013 and he deployed to Afghanistan. His awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War On Terror Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal (ISAF), the Expert Infantryman Badge and the Parachutist Badge.
He is survived by his wife, children, parents and brother.

RIP Warrior...AIRBORNE
This is so sad and useless. I hope that the Facilities Engineers on Bragg check to see if the intersection needs a better traffic light or something, and that the Chain of Command in Division reinforce to the Troopers that you can never let your guard down. To survive combat to die in traffic, so very sad.

Sad. A buddy of mine was the Ardennes and Longstreet intersection in his Toyota Corrolla back early 90s and some dumbass turning from Longstreet on an M900 series 5Ton ran right over the front half of his vehicle crushing his dominant hand which eventually got him chaptered out.

Sad. I absolutely hate the lossed that should NEVER have happened. Like the Marines who were taken out by a drunk at a T Intersection, knot that long ago.
