Yeah just found that out. So this leads me to a follow-on question: do combat lifesaver kits now come with a device that allows decompression of the pleural space? They didn't have anything like that when I was in the army, but I assumed from the article that there now exists stood some sort of contraption for doing that I supposed to the intercostal space on the nipple line. But now that the original story turns out to be bunk, I wonder about that particular fact in the story.

SGT (Join to see) I'm not sure about combat lifesaver kits in particular. I was a certified Ranger First Responder, which seems to be the essential lifesaving parts of CLS. I did learn how to do a needle decompression and was issued the necessary equipment to do so.
