Soldier Who Just Got Home for the Holidays Lost His Life Saving Others in Bronx Apartment Fire

Just home for the holidays after graduating basic training, this young soldier gave his life doing something few others do in their lifetimes. He saved the lives of others, unfortunately at the expense of his own. I salute you, Emmanuel Mensah.

“He brought four people out,” his uncle, Twum Bredu, told The New York Times. “When he went to bring a fifth person out, the fire caught up with him.”
