PV2 Larry Sellnow - I saw them live in Milwaukee when I was 16/17 not long before I went to basic under the split-option training program.
Between my junior and senior of high school I went to basic training as a 21B in 2006 at Ft. Leonard-Wood with E Co. 35th ENG. Bn. 1st. ENG Bde. Unless I'm misinformed, it was the last class of the U.S. Army to conduct bayonet training. During my senior of high school I trained with C. Co. 428th ENG. Bn. Hq. Ft. Snelling, MN. Ca. 2006-07.
PSA: Do not use fiberglass on the demo range.
I found an article released by the New York Times in 1981 stating the US Army was resuming bayonet training after more than a decade of not having it. I did some additional research on this and found the US Army officially dropped bayonet training from the BCT schedule in 2010, to focus on better fitness training in general.
