There was apparently a very different training plan when PV2 Larry Sellnow was in.

I found an article released by the New York Times in 1981 stating the US Army was resuming bayonet training after more than a decade of not having it. I did some additional research on this and found the US Army officially dropped bayonet training from the BCT schedule in 2010, to focus on better fitness training in general.

How can anyone be a soldier without being ready for hand to hand combat? Many soldiers looking forward to the confrontation. Without a fight likely to the death for the loser, there will never be freedom. Soldiers stand in resistance and defend the freedoms of those who demean them. Thank a soldier for whatever you have, many died to preserve that for us all.
