This is where and when we find out what kind of leader Kim Jong In is and what he sees as the future of his country, isolationism or limited globalism that is modeled after China. Has anyone considered N. Korea wants the same kind of international recognition as China without giving up their status as a communist nation with weapons of mass destruction?

I agree, but the international community doesn't seem to think all countries should have nukes.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - Yep and the members of the international community that do not have nukes wish the ones that do would give them up; while the nuclear armed members prefer no one else develops the capability while holding the position they'll never give up theirs. That ideology has failed miserably for over 70 years now.

Failed is a questionable term, there haven't been any nukes used in anger since Hiroshima so that seems pretty successful to this bomb dropper.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - Let me clarify my "failed" statement. Deterring the ambition of nations to develop their own nuclear weapons program with the threat of force has failed as much as nuclear disarmament policies has failed. Any nation that pursues any form of nuclear technology research will be accused of attempting to develop nuclear capable weapons. The amount of distrust in foreign policy hasn't helped either; otherwise, most first world nations would do more to share technology that could elevate other nations.

Kim better be careful. The cabal that supports him is not likely to sit idly while he transforms the country into something that no longer affords them a life unavailable to the rest of the DPRK.
