The traditional Western narrative of Islamic Spain consists of the righteous inquisitors ousting the brutal, backwards, dark-skinned Muslims (note the racist undertones). This is eons from the truth.
You will also discover the early uses of the word infidel--a Latin word describing non-Christians. Muslims never used the world infidel, it's a poor translation of the Arabic word "kaffir (pl. kuffar)," which means to cover something. A planter was called a kaffir since they buried seeds. This word was later used to describe the Quraysh who knew Islam was the truth but denied it--they tried to "cover up" the truth, and were then called kuffar.
